Peak features equipment from Neve, API, Eventide, TC Electronics, Grace, Drawmer, Vintech, Universal Audio, Waves, Sony, Lexicon, Tascam, Aphex, Mackie, E-V, and more.
A great recording starts at the microphone, and we have a great collection of mics and D.I. boxes from Neumann, AKG, Sennheiser, Royer, Peluso, Radial, Audio-Technica, Shure, Electro-Voice, and Rode.
We use Nuendo as our primary recording platform, and have the Waves Diamond bundle plug-ins plus their Restoration bundle and IR-1 convolution reverb. We also have several Antares plug-ins, including Auto-Tune. And we have iZotope’s amazing RX6 restoration software.
And although they’re not strictly “equipment”, we have extensive sound effects and production music libraries.
The equipment is important, but how it’s used is important, too. When we record music at Peak, we start with great mics, go through great preamps, and then go straight into the computer, monitoring with our main Tascam console. When we get to the mixdown stage, we’ll come out of the computer and into our Neve summing mixer, in analog, and mix down to a high-resolution digital format. This shortens the signal path and routes it through only high-quality components. Mixing on the Neve sounds great, and it has the added bonus of being able to recall mixes in a flash.
